I’m a sucker for anything Christmasy. I’m also a huge traditionalist when it comes to this holiday, so I love anything that takes me back to a simpler time. That’s why Burnaby Village Museum’s Heritage Christmas makes my event list every December!
Burnaby Village Museum is not an official historic site, but has been built to represent one. Open to the public in 1972, this town gives visitors a taste of what British Columbia may have looked like in the late 1800’s. Characters are dressed in time-appropriate fashion and perform duties as they would have back in the turn of the century.
Burnaby Village Museum | Heritage Christmas
December is the perfect time to visit Burnaby Village Museum. Not only is admission free, but you’ll be able to experience a Heritage Christmas!
Enjoy thousands of sparkling lights through out the town. Listen as carolers sing you tidings of the season. Pop into the farmhouse to smell the baking. Play with classic toys in the shop. Visit Father Christmas for a festive photo-op. Do a craft in the post office. And you wont want to leave without taking a spin on the classic carousel (the cost is $2.65.)
Heritage Christmas is another example of a simplified Christmas. There is nothing fancy or over the top about this event. It’s a great opportunity for the family to get out and enjoy some fresh air and Christmas cheer!
