Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line are about to get even better! I know, that’s kind of hard to comprehend, right? But it’s true! As announcement after announcement came out at the D23 Expo currently happening in Anaheim, it was pretty obvious that we, the guests, are in for a very exciting five years!
Earlier this week I was telling myself that come 2019, we’d maybe take a little Disney break and focus on other travels. After all, we’ve been many times and we’ve experienced most of what Disney has to offer. But that’s just the thing with Disney, it never stays the same. They’re constantly evolving, refurbishing, and adding to what is already there. I believe Walt himself said it best.
“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
How are Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line about to get even better? Read on, my friends! Read on!
Walt Disney World Resort in Florida
Let’s begin with Epcot, or as Walt himself called it, the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. New rides are in it’s future, including a “Ratatouille” adventure in the World Showcase France pavilion and a brand new E-ticket attraction themed to “Guardians of the Galaxy!” After taking a ride on the new Mission: SPACE adventure (both orange and green adventures), you can dine at the new table service restaurant next door offering out of this world views!
Just down the water ways at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the new Star Wars land (soon to be known as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge) will be opening in 2019. There guests can mingle with many of their favourite characters, such as BB-8 and Chewbacca, and experience rides and shopping that is truly out of this world! Can’t wait that long to visit? Then you’ll want to make plans to pop in after Toy Story Land opens in the Summer of 2018! Shrink down to the size of Andy’s toys and take a ride on Woody’s beloved “Slinky Dog!” “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” will soon be replacing “The Great Movie Ride”, paying tribute to the beloved Mouse and the many cartoon shorts he starred in with exciting dimensional displays!
Magic Kingdom is in for some changes too, the biggest being the addition of a “Tron” themed attraction. Although the information we’ve been given is vague, we do know that it will be built close to Space Mountain and will resemble the popular ride at Shanghai Disneyland. Also announced is the coming addition of a new theater to be located on Main Street U.S.A. This venue will host entertainment and is a nod to the to the Willis Theater in 1920’s Kansas, where Walt once lived.
If you love Walt Disney World Resort hotels as much as I do, you’ll be thrilled to hear about the addition of two new properties! The first (and the one my boys have already insisted we stay at), is am immersive Star Wars themed hotel! Luxury will meet adventure during what will surely be a an experience unlike any you’ve experienced in this galaxy! Disney also unveiled the news that a brand new Disney Vacation Club Resort to be named Disney Riviera Resort will open close to the Epcot area, a popular location thanks to it’s scenic beauty and accessibility.
Disneyland Resort in California
Pixar Pier is coming to Disney’s California Adventure! Paradise Pier will undergo a fun and whimsical transformation, bringing to life many of the characters you already know and love from the movies “The Incredibles”, “Inside Out”, and “Toy Story!” And to further add to the Pixar Love, 2018 will see Pixar Fest appearing for a limited time, including special fireworks, character appearances and entertaining surprises!
The Pixar Play Parade will also be slated for a change, switching gears and heading across the esplanade to the streets of Disneyland Park! But don’t worry, Disney’s California Adventure is in for an exciting change of it’s own! The much loved Paint the Night Parade will be coming to Disney’s longest parade route at California Adventure, playing it’s catchy music and displaying it’s bright lights for all to see!
If you’re heading to Disneyland Resort soon, there have already been several developments that you’re sure to be thrilled by! ‘Fantasmic!’ reopens July 17th, planning to wow it’s audiences on the Rivers of America with new special effects and storytelling elements! Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! has also recently opened, transforming the once spooky “Tower of Terror” into a superhero adventure that’ll have you holding onto the edge of your seat!
Disney Cruise Line
Broadway style family shows, character interactions, great food and exotic destinations; these are just a few of the reasons to experience Disney Cruise Line and their incredible ships!
We’re recent converts to the world of Disney Cruise Line, so it was big news to hear that Disney will be adding three new ships to it’s fleet! Once completed, this will nearly double the size of it’s already well established and successful fleet, allowing for more itineraries and more opportunities for adventure!
